About Us
The Role of our Coordinators
The scheme employs three coordinators, two administrative assistants and a playgroup coordinator. Our
coordinators all have Early Childhood training or degrees and they:
• Provide families with information about the scheme, community services and potential educators,
• Assist parents to choose a suitable educator,
• Recruit, assess, register and monitor all Educators with the scheme,
• Provide support, resources and training to educators,
• Provide support to families, and
• Conduct regular home visits with educators
About our Educators
With the support of the coordinators Educators are resourced, trained and kept up-to-date with current
childcare practices.
• Educators are assessed for their suitability to care for young children
• Educators must hold a current first aid and CPR certificate
• All adult members of the educators family and regular visitors are required to hold a positive
• suitability card (blue card)
• Educators must attend regular in-service training
• Coordinators conduct regular safety audits of educators homes
Within the Educator's Home
• Educators registered to care for four children under school age and three school age children
• Hours of care may be flexible to meet the needs of the families
• Children learn and develop through play and exploration within a small group setting
• Educators provide activities and experiences that meet the children's individual needs and interests
• Educators may conduct outings to playgroups, local libraries, museums, parks etc
In-service Training
Educators are required to have a commitment to their own ongoing professional development. Each Educator
negotiates a Learning Contract with the Scheme, which identifies an individual training plan designed to enhance the
quality of care provided by each Educator. The Scheme supports this by offering a broad range of training
opportunities on topics relating to childcare and personal development.
Scheme Playgroup and Toy Library
The scheme has a coordinator who hosts a playgroup for educators and children, on Tuesdays and Thursday
from 9.00am to 11.00am at Wynnum Gospell Hall, 161 Preston Road, Manly West. School term only.
The scheme also provides an extensive toy library for the educators to supplement their own resources.
Type of Care Provided
In Family Day Care, the hours of care are flexible and can be matched to your family's needs. Family Day
Care may be available on weekends or overnight if needed for work requirements only.

Assistance with Child Care Costs
The Commonwealth Government provides assistance through Child Care Benefit to help with the cost of child
care. We are approved service registered for CCB / JET and CCR.

Systems in place to ensure quality in Wynnum Family Day Care
Licensing
The Queensland Child Care Act and Child Care Regulations 2003 specify licensing requirements for Family
Day Care.
Licenses specify:
• The number of children a educator can provide for
• Educator requirements
• Health and safety requirements
Quality Assurance
The National Family Day Care Quality Assurance (FDCQA) system ensures that all Family Day Care Services
meet quality standards. Wynnum Family Day Care Scheme fully participates in the Quality Assurance system
and are proud to offer services at a high quality standard.
